Collection containing correspondence, printed materials such as flyers, brochures, programs, minutes, reports, and clippings. The correspondence in this collection contains discussions and lobbying efforts by suffrage leaders such as Amelia Worthington Fisk, Anna Howard Shaw, Mrs. Pattie R. Jacobs, Carrie Chapman Catt and John H. Wallace. The printed materials contain a wide variety of materials including flyers, brochures and convention progams for and against women's suffrage while the series of minutes and reports detail the activities and work of the committees of the Association. The clippings scrapbook includes statewide editorials, articles, and comments concerning the arguments over suffrage, including some discussion of the race question.

Carrie Lane Chapman Catt, suffragist, early feminist, political activist, and Iowa State alumna (1880), was born on January 9, 1859 in Ripon, Wisconsin to Maria Clinton and Lucius Lane. Anna Howard Shaw (February 14, 1847 – July 2, 1919) was a leader of the women's suffrage movement in the United States. She was also a physician and one of the first ordained female Methodist ministers in the United States.
